Voting By Mail
Voting by mail gives eligible Harris County voters a safe and convenient way to participate in the election without having to visit a polling place in person. Whether you’re over 65, living with a disability, expecting a child, or away from the county during the election, voting by mail ensures your voice is still heard. Because Texas law requires a new application each year, it’s important to apply early and meet the deadline so your ballot arrives on time and gets counted.
Who can vote by mail?
Only specific reasons entitle a registered voter to vote early by mail (no longer called absentee voting). You may vote early by mail if:- You are 65 years of age or older on Election Day;
- You are sick or disabled (as defined in Texas Election Code 82.002(a));
- You expect to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day;
- You are out of your county on Election Day and during early voting hours;
- You are confined in jail or Involuntary Civil Commitment, but eligible to vote.
Accessible Voting Options
Curbside voting is available for voters who are unable to enter the polling place. Simply notify an election worker, and they will bring the ballot to your vehicle.
